Lostprophets - Lostlost Prophets Split As Frontman's Child Sex Trial Looms

Welsh rockers Lostprophets have split after 15 years as frontman Ian Watkins prepares to stand trial for alleged child sex offences.

The Last Train Home singer was arrested last year (Dec12) and charged with 24 counts, including two accusations of raping a baby under the age of 12 months and another of aiding and abetting the sexual assault of another child, who was under 18 months at the time.

He has denied all charges and the case is expected to head to trial in November (13).

At the time of his arrest, Watkins' five bandmates released a statement revealing they were in a "state of shock" as the investigation unfolded, and now Lee Gaze, Mike Lewis, Stuart Richardson, Jamie Oliver and Luke Johnson have announced the group is over.

A message posted on the band's Facebook.com page reads: "To our fans: After nearly a year of coming to terms with our heartache, we finally feel ready to announce publicly what we have thought privately for some time.

"We can no longer continue making or performing music as Lostprophets. Your love and support over the past 15 years has been tremendous, and we'll be forever grateful for all you've given us. As we look forward to the next phase of our lives, we can only hope to be surrounded by people as devoted and inspiring as you guys have been."
