Liam Gallagher is learning how to cook healthy recipes.

The former Oasis rocker has started whipping up his own lentil stews and exercising with the encouragement of his girlfriend Debbie Gwyther in the hope of improving his diet and lifestyle in 2015.

A source said: ''Liam's never cooked before but it's helped him relax. His girlfriend Debbie Gwyther has been showing him the ropes. He's been having a go at lentil stews, stir-fries and soups.

''It's all part of his plan to get healthy in 2015. He's been getting fit by going on jogs.''

The 42-year-old star - who is currently in the middle of two court battles, one being a child-support hearing with Liza Ghorbani over their 22-month-old daughter, who he has never met and the other, a divorce settlement, with his second wife Nicole Appleton - has adopted the healthy diet to help him deal with the stress of the cases.

The source added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: ''He's trying not to let the stress of everything get on top of him.''

However, it isn't the first time Liam has tried his hand at cooking, with the self professed 'Salmon King' previously revealing his favourite dish to make was a salmon and stir fry, especially as it required minimal washing up.

He said: ''I'm always banging away at the fish man. I used to really dig sardines, but now I'm on the salmon. The royalty cheques have started rolling in again. I'm on the salmon big time. My top three fish are salmon at number one, sea bass at two and sardines are third.

''My number one dish is f***ing salmon and stir-fry. You need to pre-heat your oven for 10 minutes. F***ing loads of soy sauce. Get your salmon wrapped up in some tin foil with a fold in the end. Stick it in the oven for 15 minutes. Take it out, bit of stir-fry, loads more soy sauce. F***ing top dish, no mess, sweet!''
