Kristen Wiig is set to star in 'Nasty Baby'.

The 39-year-old actress is being lined up for the role of family practitioner Anna, the best friend of gay couple Freddy and Mo, who will be played by writer-director Sebastian Silva and TV on the Radio frontman Tunde Adebimpe.

While her role in the indie movie has not been confirmed, a source close to Wiig told The Wrap that the 'Bridesmaids' star has expressed in interest in playing the part.

The film tells the story of the homosexual pair's attempts to have a baby with the help of Anna, who is more interested in giving birth than getting herself a man.

Freddy is an artist whose work revolves around babies, so he is particularly keen to have a little one with Mo.

But Mo isn't as enthusiastic as his boyfriend, particularly when he has to become the main donor when Freddy's sperm fails to do the trick.

A host of other stars have also been lined up to appear in the motion picture including Denis O'Hare, Mark Margolis and Alia Shawkat, while Reg E. Cathey is to play potentially dangerous resident The Bishop.

Kristen recently revealed she turned down a major offer to star in a sequel to 2011 comedy movie 'Bridesmaids'.
