Teen Charged With Rape At Keith Urban's Massachusetts Concert 4307118 News

It seems Keith Urban's recent alcohol-fuelled concert in Mansfield, Massachusetts, was far worse than first thought. At the sold-out show, which finished with many fans receiving medical treatment after consuming too much alcohol, a teen concertgoer raped a 17 year-old girl.

Police have arrested the alleged rapist, 18 year-old Sean Murphy, after reportedly sexually assaulting the young female, which was apparently watched and even recorded by many bystanders.

Fans saw Murphy kissing the female near a concession stand during Urban's 'Raise 'Em Up' show in the packed-out Xfinity Center, he then took her away to a lawn area, the Sun Chronicle reports. Astonishingly, several people began taking photos and videos of the assault before a woman intervened and pulled Murphy off her.

Murphy then got up and fled further into the lawn, but he was arrested only a short time later after police sealed all exits of the outdoor amphitheatre, and have since charged him with rape. However, the defendant pleaded innocent in Attleboro District Court to one count of rape after his attorney said the sex was consensual.

"This was a private act that regrettably occurred in a public place," Murphy's attorney, Neil P. Crowley, told the Boston Globe. "Mr. Murphy deeply regrets this incident and I'm sure the young woman does as well."

Police believe Murphy and the 17 year-old victim had consumed copious amounts of alcohol at the concert, just like the 40 fans that were allegedly treatment by medical staff after becoming ill from mostly alcohol-related reasons, and a further 22 individuals were hospitalized in the town's local medical centre, which is around 25 miles south of Boston.

The number of people suffering from the effects of alcohol became so high, ambulances from five different nearby communities were called to the concert and local authorities took more than 50 people into protective custody.

Drunken Keith Urban fans hospitalised at concert 4304598 News

Chaos ensued at country star Keith Urban’s concert in Mansfield, Massachussetts as many fans had to be given medical attention for excessive alcohol consumption.

Police and medics were called to the Xfinity venue, which is about 25 miles south of Boston, and treated 46 inebriated concert goers, 22 of whom had to be transported to hospitals in the surrounding area. The demands were such that an emergency EMS protocol had to be engaged by police, meaning that ambulances from five separate communities were despatched to the venue.

Police say that a large number of the people treated were taken into protective custody for their own safety, some of whom could face charges. Of course, country music has always had something of a hard livin’, hard drinkin’ reputation, but even Urban himself was taken aback by the passion and vibe of the crowd, describing the gig as “nutso” in a tweet afterwards.

This is not the first time that the Boston area has seen trouble at a live concert in the recent past. Only last month, 40 people were hospitalised at an Avicii gig at the city’s TD Garden with drink and drug-related ailments.

Urban’s ‘Raise ‘Em Up’ tour rolls on to Cincinnati on August 31. The star, married to actress Nicole Kidman, will also return as a judge on the fourteenth season of ‘American Idol’, due to air in January of next year.

Kidman-Urban Duet Melts Hearts With "Amazing Grace" Performance At Children's Hospital 4246800 News

No, Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman aren’t headed for a divorce – in fact, they couldn’t be farther from the thought. In case you needed further proof that the pair are adorable and still in love, the couple visited a children’s hospital in Australia on Friday and sang a heartwarming duet of Amazing Grace.

Urban, a true man of country, brought his guitar on their visit to Monash Children’s Hospital, while Kidman showed off her impressive pipes. She joined in with her husband, making it into a rather endearling duet. By the end of the song, the musical pair had the entire room singing along.

As if to disprove the divorce rumors that have been flying around lately, the couple kept glancing and smiling at each other throughout the performance. It was so adorable that it almost made up for the fact that Urban forgot the lyrics around the second verse. He does deserve points for quick recovery, though.

The hospital wrote on its website on Monday: "We want to say a huge THANK YOU to Nicole, Keith and Swisse [Wellness, a vitamin company] for lifting up the spirits of some of our most deserving patients, families and staff."

Urban recently opened up to Rolling Stone about his relationship with Kidman and how she helped him overcome his addiction: “Meeting Nic and falling in love with Nic and starting a relationship with Nic became — I realize now in hindsight — my sobriety. That was how I was able to keep it together."

American Idol Recap: Anniversary And Homecoming 4195853 News

Things are coming to a head on this week’s episode of American Idol. The finale is next week, so naturally, the contestants are pulling out all the stops at this point. To top it all off, Caleb Johnson, Alex Preston and Jenna Irene also had the added pressure of performing on the show’s 500th episode. No biggie.

Caleb Johnson
Despite his vocal issues, Caleb Johnson delivered a couple of showstopping performances.

To amp up the nostalgic spirit, the show kicked off with a montage of the greatest moments in Idol history. There was Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aken , the transformation of Clay Aiken, KEITH!, William Hung  Bikini Girl (?) and even a video of Simon Cowell that time he was spot on about Carrie Undewood’s record sales. Ah, the good old days.

Several Idol winners recorded video thank-you notes, which were played at last night’s anniversary episode. Underwood, Phillip Phillips,  David Cook, Kris Allen, Candice Glover, Lee DeWyze, Fantasia Barrino, Scotty McCreery, and Jordin Sparks all gave thanks to Idol for their head starts. There was also touching hometown footage, although that took a backseat to the Chainsmokers’ live performance (sort of) of their viral hit #SELFIE.

Jordin Sparks
A number of Idol alumni, including Jordin Sparks, showed up for the anniversary.

A shadow hung over the first round of performances, with Caleb Johnson announcing that he was struggling with bronchitis and a “small vocal chord hemorrhage”. For his first song of the night, he performed INXS’ Never Tear Us Apart, selected for him by Randy Jackson to show off his “bluesy side.” Johnson didn’t seem to be struggling with the higher key. For Preston, Jackson went with “Pompeii” by Bastille, because he wanted so see how he does with a band driven record that has some “tempo.”  Preston performed with a drum line, and in a cool moment, he took on the sticks and played percussion while singing – he had to make an impression somehow.

For Irene, Jackson chose “Titanium,” by David Guetta and Sia, because he feels she is a cross between Paramore and EDM. Connick said the song was in her “alley” and loved how comfortable she was on stage with a song that is made for the studio. Urban said she mixes fun with conviction. For the sake of variety, Lopez disagreed, saying it was shaky and stiff.

Jena Irene
Jena Irene was fresh and youthful, as usual.

The second round was selected by the judges, and for Johnson, they went with a current band: Imagine Dragons, and Demons. It was a rough performance and Johnson struggled with the pitch, but the judges felt for him and weren’t too harsh in their critiques. Alex Preston performed Rihanna’s Stay for the sake of the unexpected gender switch, while for Irene, the went with Heart Attack by Demi Lovato – a fitting, youthful choice which went over well with the crowd.

The third round featured picks from the top three’s hometowns. Johnson’s home base knocked it out of the park with their pick of Dazed and Confused by Led Zeppelin. He powered through his minor vocal struggles, earning a cheer from the audience. Preston’s hometown went with the rather unusual choice of One Direction’s The Story of Us, while Irene performedRadiohead’s Creep, selected for her by her high school.

"American Idol" Results: Contestants Can't Agree, Jennifer Lopez Is Shocked 4177279 News

The results of this week’s American Idol might have shocked many people, but none more so than Jennifer Lopez. This warning might be redundant, but we’re giving it anyway – spoilers ahead.

With five contestants left, it was time for a slight rule change. Did the producers lift that idea from The Hunger Games? We may never know. Anyway, the new rules stated that the five remaining contestants were allowed to either axe the finalist with the lowest votes or keep him/her, but face a tougher contest next week.

Sam Woolf, American Idol
This week's lowest votes went to Sam Woolf.

Speaking to the final five, Ryan Seacrestsaid: "We’ve got a dramatic proposal for you. Tonight, the power is in your hands. You’ve got two options.”

The only condition (well, apart from all the other conditions) was that the contestants’ decision had to be unanimous. After a few minutes of deliberation, it turned out that the final five could not agree on a decision. So in a rather anticlimactic turn of events, normal elimination resumed. After the mandatory pause for dramatic effect, Ryan revealed that Sam Woolf, a favorite up until this point, would be going home. Jennifer Lopez promptly announced: “I'm shocked."

Not that she needed to, since her shocked impression pretty much said it all. And just in case anyone wasn’t clear on the matter, JLo kept the sympathetic expression on her face throughout Sam’s final performance and even burst into applause at one point. Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. both gave their best “concerned uncle” impressions. For his last song, he chose Imagine Dragons’ It’s Time. He gave it a rather unenthusiastic spin, went flat in several places and seemed to have trouble with the mic, but Sam’s teenage fans in the audience seemed to be enjoying it anyway. The four remaining contestants are Jenna Irene, Caleb Johnson, Jessica Meuse and Alex Preston.

Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves & George Strait Take Home ACM Awards [Pictures] 4143038 News

The American Country Music Awards were held on Sunday in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Miranda Lambert and Keith Urban won the most awards, two and three respectively, whilst nominees and fan favourites Taylor Swift, Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton lost out on numerous awards each.

Lambert was struggling to hold her awards at the American Country Music Awards on Sunday (6th April). The singer won three of the large trophies and posed somewhat awkwardly but happily in the press room. The 30-year-old took home the most awards after she won Female Vocalist of the Year, Single Record of the Year and Vocal Event of the Year alongside Keith Urban. Urban was a secretive runner up with two awards as, not only did he collaborate with Lambert for Vocal event, but he also featured (alongside Taylor Swift) in Tim McGraw's 'Highway Don't Care' which won Video of the Year.

Justin Moore, who won the award for New Artist of the Year, posed with his pregnant wife and his award. Moore's wife Kate glowed with pride as she held her husband's award. It's certainly going to be a busy year for the couple who are expecting their third child this summer.

Kacey Musgraves
Kacey Musgraves' unusual dress did not blight her radiance as she held her award for Album of the Year.

Kacey Musgraves, who was also nominated for Female Vocalist and Video of the Year, looked radiant as she held up her award for Album of the Year. Her dress may not have been to everyone's taste as she wore a powder blue floor length dress complete with train, matching waist belt and ruched bodice. It may have been a bizarre mix of styles but Musgraves' large grin after winning an award distracted everyone from her strange ensemble. Lambert's dress matched Musgraves' prom style gown as she wore a strapless pink jacquard mini dress. Adding gold heeled sandals, she looked radiant as she posed for the press.

Taylor Swift was notably absent from the award list, with the exception of her appearing in her mentor McGraw's video. She was nominated for two other awards including Entertainer and Female Vocalist but lost out on both respectively to George Strait and Lambert. Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton also lost out on awards. Shelton was nominated for Entertainer, Male Vocalist, Song, Album and Vocal Event of the Year yet failed to win even one award. Meanwhile Bryan was nominated for Entertainer, Male Vocalist and Album yet too went home disappointed.

Miranda Lambert And Keith Urban Reign Supreme At 2014 ACM Awards 4142682 News

Miranda Lambert is definitely the country music industry’s darling at the moment and Sunday night’s ACM music awards helped to cement her status. Lambert took home three of the biggest awards in the genre, including her fifth title for Female Vocalist of the Year – a record win for the songstress. In this category, she topped the likes of Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Kacey Musgraves and Sheryl Crow.

"I cannot believe this; I really didn't expect it," Lambert gushed upon accepting the honor. "I was just hanging out with Trisha Yearwood back there – holy crap! And I was standing next to Sheryl Crow, a complete and utter rock star. Kacey Musgraves, she wrote the Single of the Year. Carrie Underwood's my buddy; she's a phenomenon." She also scored a win for Single of the Year, with the Kacey Musgraves-penned Mama’s Broken Heart. She shared her third win of the evening – Vocal Event of the Year for We Were Us – with country superstar and longtime American Idol judge Keith Urban.

Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Grammy Awards
There can be no doubt that Lambert has finally made it on her own, maybe even surpassing the fame of her beau, Blake Shelton.

Urban also had quite the night as he collected the producer and male artist trophies for the same song, according to Rolling Stone. His collaboration with Tim McGraw and Taylor Swift on Highway Don’t Care also earned him the Video of the Year award, rounding his total to four. With awards it’s mostly quality that matters over quantity, however, and in the end, it was George Strait who won the top honor – Entertainer of the Year. The 61-year-old King of Country won the same award at the CMA ceremony last year, making it an appropriate end to his career. Strait is retiring from touring after the end of his current Cowboy Rides Away (appropriate title, isn’t it?) national round, though he will continue recording.

George Strait, Country Music Awards
Strait is on his way out of the biz, but he's making a memorable exit.

"I've always said I have the best fans in the world, and I heard this was a fan-voted thing, so I rest my case," quipped the legendary singer from the ACM's Las Vegas stage.

The night was not without its controversies, however. When the fan-voted ACM New Artist award was won by Justin Moore, a singer who first hit the country airwaves in 2008, his eligibility for the award was in question. The Arkansas local first came on the scene in the not-so-distant 2008 and has since released three albums. However, he has not reached the 500,000 copies mark, required for the title. The Academy explained that there can be exceptions to the rule under certain circumstances.
