Johnny Marr - Johnny Marr announces new UK tour

Johnny Marr has announced a UK solo tour.

The former Smiths musician is embarking on a series of live gigs this autumn, starting on October 13 in Lincoln and finishing up in Leeds on October 29.

The guitarist is expected to play songs from his 2013 solo debut, 'The Messenger', as well as from his second album, which is due for release around the time of the tour.

He will also no doubt be performing fan favourites from The Smiths' back catalogue of hits.

Tickets go on general sale at 9am this Friday (06.06.14) and will be priced at £26 for London, £25 for Manchester and £24 for all other dates.

Johnny recently told NME he was already back in the studio recording his new album, which boasts a London feel.

He said: ''I think I've got all the songs written now. It's cool. It's got a real London feel, this album. I'm recording it down there at a studio near the river - I want to capture this busy, loud, very modern place.''

The Smiths - also formed of singer Morrissey, bassist Andy Rourke and drummer Mike Joyce - split in 1987 and frontman Morrissey has quashed all hope of a reunion.

Johnny Marr's UK tour dates are as follows:

October 13 - Lincoln, The Engine Shed

October 14 - Southend, Cliffs Pavilion

October 15 - Bexhill, De La Warr

October 17 - Wolverhampton, Civic Hall

October 18 - Cardiff, Great Hall

October 20 - O2 Academy Bournemouth

October 21 - Cambridge, Corn Exchange

October 23 - O2 Academy Brixton London

October 24 - Bath, Pavilion

October 25 - O2 Apollo Manchester

October 27 - O2 Academy Glasgow

October 28 - O2 Academy Newcastle

October 29 - O2 Academy Leeds
