John Galliano is thought to be in talks to design stage costumes for Stephen Fry's new theatre production.
The British actor is reportedly eager for a top fashion designer to create outfits for him when he plays Lady Bracknell in a new stage version of Oscar Wilde's 'The Importance of Being Earnest' next year.
Stephen, who is also directing the play, is in talks with John and Roland Mouret for the task, while Alexander McQueen designer Sarah Burton has ruled herself out of the running.
The 55-year-old star told his producers, David Pugh and Dafydd Rogers, that he wants glamorous designs for the production so they will receive critical acclaim, according to the Daily Mail newspaper.
John, 52, has been mounting a fashion comeback in recent months after being exiled from the industry following his conviction for anti-Semitic abuse in a Paris bar in 2010.
The former Christian Dior designer is certainly familiar with the stage play, having designed costumes for Dame Judi Dench's Lady Bracknell during the early years of his career.
The new play is expected to launch at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London in 2014.
