Jas Prince - Jas Prince Suing Cash Money Records Bosses Over Drake Royalties

Hip-hop producer Jas Prince is seeking $4 million (£2.35 million) in damages from bosses at Bryan 'birdman' Williams' record label amid allegations he was cheated out of royalties for songs released by rapper Drake.

Prince claims he discovered Drake and was instrumental in helping the Worst Behaviour hitmaker land a deal with Aspire Music Group, via which his rapping and songwriting services would be licensed to others.

As part of the agreement, Prince would receive a portion of profits and advances generated by Drake's recordings, reports Entlawdigest.com.

However, Prince alleges he was cut out of the picture in July, 2009, when Aspire executives allowed Drake to sign a joint contract with Williams' Cash Money Records and Lil Wayne's Young Money Entertainment label, for which the rapper received a $2 million (£1.18 million) advance.

Prince has now filed suit in a Miami, Florida court to lay claim to millions he believes he is owed from Cash Money chiefs, citing charges including unjust enrichment, conversion and breach of contract.

Drake is not directly involved in the lawsuit.
