James Franco - James Franco had eye for art

James Franco was obsessed with art in high school.

The 'Spring Breakers' star was so passionate about painting he would spend countless hours creating artwork and credits his hobby with giving him the drive to pursue an acting career.

James enrolled in after school art classes where he ''obsessively'' enjoyed ''life drawing, life painting and portraiture classes''.

He said: ''I'd just do it as much as I could. I'd do it from three to 10pm every day. It really showed me, if you want to do something, you can just throw yourself into it.''

In addition to his busy acting career, the 35-year-old hunk has a slew of other interests - from directing, to teaching university classes in film, and he has exhibited his artwork at museums - and he believes you can never have too many hobbies.

He said: ''In some ways, you can't do enough and so as far as doing many things at once, it just continued.''

James became a rising Hollywood star through the blockbuster 'Spider-Man' movies, but he admits he became disenchanted with acting and decided to pursue his other goals behind the camera.

He said: ''I was very grateful for it, but I realised acting wasn't going to let me do all the things I wanted to do.''
