Jake Gyllenhaal - Jake Gyllenhaal is keen to return to London's West End

Jake Gyllenhaal is ''definitely'' up for a return to London's West End.

The 'Prisoners' star is keen to make a return to British theatre following his early career stint in Kenneth Lonergan's revival of 'This is Our Youth', which earned him stellar reviews and an Outstanding Newcomer theatre award from the Evening Standard newspaper.

He told British radio station Magic FM: ''Definitely, I love it here (in the UK) and I loved working here on the stage.''

Gyllenhaal says he would snap up the opportunity to perform at the prestigious Old Vic Theatre - which is run by Kevin Spacey - in London, as he gushed: ''The Old Vic is such an incredible institution and an amazing theatre space, I would love to work there! And if that temptation calls, I will answer in one way or another!''

The 32-year-old actor claims he will always have a strong connection to London after he realised his early role in 2001 film 'Donnie Darko' had earned him a loyal fanbase in England.

He explained: ''It sort of died in the States and I was doing a play over here and it just came alive again! I'd be walking along the street with people shouting, 'Donny Darko, look there's Darko!' ''

Gyllenhaal currently stars alongside Hugh Jackman, as Detective Loki, in 'Prisoners', and he has nothing but praise for Hugh's acting talents.

He said: ''It's annoying how good he is ... he's a true gentleman ... like old school Hollywood!''
