It's A Wonderful Life is returning for a sequel 67 years after the beloved holiday movie first hit the big screen.

The 1949 classic tells the tale of bank worker George Bailey, played by Jimmy Stewart, who attempts to commit suicide before an angel shows him what life would be like for his family without him.

Now film bosses are planning a follow-up, starring Karolyn Grimes, who played Stewart's daughter Zuzu, as an angel who guides Bailey's unlikable grandson.

Grimes says, "The new film will retain the feeling of the original, and it simply must be shared. I've probably read close to 20 scripts over the years suggesting a sequel to It's a Wonderful Life but none of them were any good."

It's A Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story is slated to hit theaters for the 2015 holiday season.
