Hugh Jackman - Hugh Jackman hints he will retire as Wolverine

Hugh Jackman has suggested he may retire from playing Wolverine.

The actor has played the claw-wielding superhero a staggering seven times on the big screen and says he made the most of filming the upcoming 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' because it ''may be the last'' time he stars as the iconic Marvel comic book character.

He told MTV News: ''It may be the last. By the way, it didn't hit me until three weeks before the end [of shooting 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'], because we promoted 'The Wolverine' and I came back on set with three weeks to go, and that's when I went, 'Well, who knows? Maybe there's no more Wolverine. Maybe this is it. Who knows? Maybe.'

''So I really made the most of those last few weeks. I enjoyed every time I put the claws on.''

Jackman first played the mutant hero in 2000's 'X-Men' and claims he made sure to save a range of memorabilia to commemorate the last 13 years.

The 44-year-old star joked: ''I nicked everything off the set, so Halloween, come to me and I'll hook you up.''

The actor also hinted his solo appearance in 'The Wolverine' will have big ramifications for 'X Men: Days of Future Past', which is due out in July next year, but he remained tight lipped on the details of the final scenes he filmed.

He teased: ''If I tell you it is giving away literally the key scene, Literally, I would be killed. I cannot say one part of that scene.''
