Hayden Panettiere was stunned when she heard her sci-fi Tv show Heroes was going back into production as she was kept out of the loop by the programme's bosses.

The actress was part of the original cast, playing indestructible cheerleader Claire Bennet in the show about ordinary people who discover they have superpowers.

It ran for four seasons before it was axed in 2010, but Tv bosses recently announce plans to revive the series as Heroes Reborn.

Panettiere has now revealed she was not officially told about the project, telling Cosmopolitan.com, "It was a shock to me, and, in fact, I believe I became privy to that through my cousin. She sent me a text message and told me about it, and, I mean, we (the original cast) had nothing, nothing to do with it; it will definitely be interesting to see how they reinvent that."

The blonde beauty wants the new show to be a success, but she hopes the original characters are not recast.

She adds, "It's a little bit of an interesting feeling because you go, 'That was our show, our home, our family,' something that we had a major part in creating as well, and, I mean, I hope that they don't have somebody else playing our characters, that would be a little dagger in the heart. But, you never know. I wish them success in it, for sure."
