Gravity - Gravity Tipped For Big Night At Baftas With 11 Nominations

Gravity is the movie to beat at this year's (14) British Academy of Film and Television Arts (Bafta) Awards after landing 11 nominations.

The space thriller is up for top awards including Best Film, Outstanding British Film, Best Director for Alfonso Cuaron and Best Actress for Sandra Bullock.

Other films tipped for a big night include 12 Years A Slave and American Hustle, which boast 10 nods each. Tom Hanks' Captain Phillips has nine while his other movie, Saving Mr. Banks, is nominated in five categories.

Gravity, 12 Years A Slave, American Hustle, Captain Phillips and Philomena will compete for the coveted Best Film prize.

Bullock will battle it out in the Best Actress category with Amy Adams (American Hustle), Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine), Emma Thompson (Saving Mr. Banks), and Dame Judi Dench (Philomena), while the male stars up for Best Actor include Bruce Dern (Nebraska), Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave), Christian Bale (American Hustle), Leonardo DICaprio (The Wolf Of Wall Street) and Tom Hanks (Captain Phillips).

Steve MCQueen (12 Years A Slave), David O. Russell (American Hustle), Paul Greengrass (Captain Phillips) and Martin Scorsese (The Wolf Of Wall Street) are up against Cuaron for Best Director.

British stars Luke Evans and Helen MCCrory announced the nominations on Wednesday morning (08Jan13) in London. The trophies will be handed out at the Royal Opera House in the U.K. capital on 16 February (14).
