Gma Increases Its Lead Over Today
Paula Deen's interview with Matt Lauer on the Today show two weeks ago may have given the NBC morning show its first daily win over ABC's Good Morning America since last November, but overall the ABC morning show drew its strongest ratings for the quarter in 21 years, according to Nielsen research. It averaged 5.50 million viewers for the quarter versus 4.71 million for Today. GMA also topped Today among viewers 25-54, the target age group for advertisers buying news and talk shows, with 2.02 million viewers versus 1.92 million for Today. Meanwhile, third-place CBS This Morning proved to be the most-improved morning talk show of all, posting its biggest total audience since 1994. It was up 19 percent in total viewers and 14 percent in the 25-54 demo.
