Gary Oldman - Gary Oldman: 'I'd Like To Remake Most Of My Films'
Gary Oldman is convinced most of his films are stinkers and he still wishes he had not been talked into playing punk icon Sid Vicious in cult movie Sid & Nancy.
The revered British star counts his roles in Jfk and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy among the only ones he likes, insisting he hates watching himself in most of his films.
He tells Playboy, "Most of my work I would just stomp into the ground and start over again."
And as for Alex Cox's 1986 film Sid & Nancy, he adds, "I don't like myself in the movie. Frankly, I didn't want to make it in the first place. I was talked into it at the time.
"Now, if I flip through the channels and come upon it, it's, 'F**k! Sid And Nancy', and off it goes. I don't think I played Sid Vicious very well."
As a result, he doesn't take compliments from fans very well, revealing, "I guess I shouldn't complain. I've learned over the years that people get upset when they tell you something is their favourite movie and you go, 'Really? You liked that piece of s**t?' So I now tell people, 'Thank you, that's great', and move on."
