Evander Holyfield - Evander Holyfield Feeds Homeless In Scotland
Boxing legend Evander Holyfield took to the streets of Scotland on Wednesday (18Sep13) to serve food to the homeless.
The five-times world heavyweight champion has teamed up with Canadian philanthropist Yank Barry, who began his humanitarian work with Muhammed Ali in the early 1990s, to give $15,000 (£10,000) worth of food to a unit providing essential help to some of Glasgow's poorest.
Scores of homeless locals arrived at the city's Lodging Hill Mansion on Wednesday to receive a helping hand from the boxer.
Holyfield tells Britain's Daily Record newspaper, "It makes me feel good to be able to help all these people. I was helped out when I was a kid by boys' clubs and charities, so it's only right that I can give something back now.
"I became who I am today because of the help and opportunities I was given. Now I have the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Ali, who was not just a boxer, but also a great humanitarian, and I am pleased to be able to meet the people of Glasgow and do my small part to help."
