Espn Tough Even Without Football
It goes without saying that ESPN will dominate the cable-TV ratings during the fourth quarter, thanks to its football coverage. But on Monday it observed that its ratings over the past month also zoomed, helped by Sunday Night Baseball and a Sept. 10 telecast of the soccer game between the U.S. Men's National Team and Mexico. ESPN reported ratings were up 13 percent overall over last year and 20 percent during primetime (2.89 million viewers). With Monday Night Football returning, the network averaged 4.26 million viewers last week, versus 2.54 million by its nearest competitor, USA Network.
