Divinyls - Divinyls Track I Touch Myself Becomes Breast Cancer Anthem
The Divinyls' iconic track I Touch Myself has been re-recorded by Australian stars including Olivia Newton-John as part of a breast cancer campaign.
The band's frontwoman Chrissy Amphlett died last year (13) at age of 53 after a battle with the disease, and now her famous song has been adopted by Australia's Cancer Council Nsw to encourage women to check themselves for lumps.
Grease star Newton-John is among those who have provided vocals for a new version of the track, along with Amphlett's cousin Little Pattie, singer/songwriter Suze DeMarchi, and rocker Deborah Conway, among others.
Amphlett's widower Charley Drayton has hailed the project as a tribute to his late wife, saying, "Chrissy voiced it clearly - she wished for all women to be mindful of themselves when they heard the tune; to be good to themselves, inside and out."
