Homeland - David Harewood: 'Britain Has Lost A Generation Of Black Actors'
Former Homeland star David Harewood is adamant the U.K. has "lost" a generation of black actors to America through a lack of strong roles.
Harewood, who played Central Intelligence Agency (Cia) boss David Estes in the show for two seasons, believes screenwriters in his native Britain are taking too long to catch up with their American counterparts and write dramatic roles for black stars.
He tells the London Evening Standard, "With the type of dramas that we do, it's going to take a while for people to start casting strong black lead roles. It's why that whole generation of strong black lead actors left the country."
