Tv - Carol Vorderman Eyes Flying World Record

British Tv presenter Carol Vorderman is aiming to set a new world record by flying around the planet solo next year (14).

The brunette, a panellist on daytime talk show Loose Women, began to fulfil her lifelong aviation dream last year (12) when she took up flying lessons, and in the summer (13) her anxious first lone trip in the cockpit was screened on U.K. Tv.

She is now furiously studying for her commercial international pilot's licence so she can recreate Amelia Earhart's famous 1937 solo round-the-world flight next year.

If she succeeds, Vorderman will set a new world record for the quickest time from first solo flight to first global trip, and will become only the ninth woman ever to complete the feat.

She tells The Sunday Times Magazine, "Next year I will finally have a go at Amelia Earhart's route around the world, taking in almost every continent... (It will take) about three months to complete the trip - a complex and tricky exercise, which will expose me to genuine danger and risk.

"If I succeed, I will be the ninth woman ever to solo around the world and the fastest ever (man or woman) to go from first solo to global solo. I feel I am ready for whatever will be thrown at me. And there is no question that I'll hold my nerve."
