Bruce Jenner has ''never felt comfortable'' in his own skin.

The 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star, who recently underwent a laryngeal shave to reduce the size of his Adam's apple and also went under the knife in 2009 to fix a botched nose job and partial facelift he had in 1984, is reportedly ''obsessed'' with his appearance.

A source told UsMagazine.com that the 64-year-old Olympic gold medallist has ''never felt comfortable in his skin. (Bruce) has always been obsessed with his looks.''

The star has also been sporting a ponytail with highlights and longer nails since splitting from his wife of 22 years, Kris Jenner, last October, and while friends say his family don't understand his new look, they are trying to be supportive.

A second insider said: ''His kids are supportive of whatever he does.''

However, Bruce's daughters, Kendall, 18, and Kylie, 16, are ''confused'' by his current appearance.

A source previously said: ''Kylie and Kendall just don't know what to think. It's extremely confusing for them to grasp.''

Kris recently denied Bruce - who lives in Malibu, California, away from the family home in Calabasas - is undergoing a sex change and he has said he only had the throat operation because he didn't like the way his Adam's apple looked.
