Avril Lavigne had a Gothic-themed wedding.

The 'Here's To Never Growing Up' hitmaker tied the knot with Nickleback frontman Chad Kroeger in a candlelight ceremony at medieval castle, Chateau de la Napoule, near Cannes in the south of France on Monday (01.07.13), and admits their three-day ''crazy vacation'' style wedding was ''over the top''.

The 28-year-old Ontario-born singer, who married her fellow countryman on Canada Day, told Hello! magazine: ''I wanted to make sure it's a crazy vacation and an experience of a lifetime for our guests.

''I wanted it to be over the top. I'm obsessed with castles and I love French décor and Goth ... I found this castle in France and we visited it and it was perfect.''

The couple, who got together in February 2012 when Chad was helping her record her fifth studio album, exchanged vows in front of 110 guests and Avril walked down the aisle in black tulle Monique Lhuillier gown.

Chad, 38, revealed he already loves calling Avril his wife, saying: ''When you've got that ring on your finger that you get to look at every single day, and you get to call that other person husband or wife, it's a really special feeling.''

The 'Girlfriend' singer was previously married to Sum 41 star Deryck Whibley and wore a white gown by Vera Wang to their nuptials.

She previously said that she had wanted her first wedding to have a ''rock n' roll, goth'' theme, but was worried she would regret it.

She said at the time: ''I've been dreaming about my wedding day since I was a little girl. I have to wear the white dress.... People thought that I would [wear a] black wedding dress, and I would have. But at the same time, I was thinking about the wedding pictures, and I wanted to be in style. I didn't want to be thinking, 20 years later, 'Oh, why did I wear my hair like that?'''
