Bryan Singer - Alleged Hollywood Sexual Assault Victim Holds Press Conference

The man who has stunned Hollywood with allegations of sexual assault against moviemaker Bryan Singer and other unnamed executives has gone public with his astonishing legal spat.

Michael Egan, 31, who is suing the X-Men director for allegedly sexually assaulting him when he was a minor in 2000, staged a press conference in Los Angeles on Thursday (17Apr14), during which he claimed he was raped "numerous times" by "numerous individuals" at "sordid" Hollywood and Hawaii parties over the course of two years.

Egan, who attended the press conference with his lawyer, Jeff Herman, told the media he had reported the alleged crimes to the Los Angeles Police Department but his claims "fell on deaf ears".

After the lawsuit was filed on Wednesday (16Apr14), Singer's attorney Marty Singer released a statement insisting Egan's claims made against his client were "completely without merit", adding, "We are very confident that Bryan will be vindicated in this absurd and defamatory lawsuit.

"It is obvious that this case was filed in an attempt to get publicity at the time when Bryan's new movie (X-Men: Days of Future Past) is about to open in a few weeks."

Movie bosses at Fox, the studio behind the new X-Men film, have also released a statement, which reads: "These are serious allegations, and they will be resolved in the appropriate forum. This is a personal matter, which Bryan Singer and his representatives are addressing separately."

Egan told the gathered reporters at his press conference that he has months of trauma therapy and sobriety to thank for his lawsuit, stating, "I can stand in front of you all today and say I am a survivor of childhood sexual abuse."
