Alex Rodriguez - Alex Rodriguez's Rep Slams Book's Prostitute Claims

U.S. sports superstar Alex Rodriguez's publicist has vehemently denied explosive new claims that the baseball player was bedding prostitutes while dating Cameron Diaz.

In an upcoming book about the rich and famous residents of exclusive New York building Fifteen Central Park West, author Michael Gross alleges hookers were regularly spotted coming and going from the the $30,000 (£20,000)-a-month apartment Rodriguez rented in 2010.

In the tome, House of Outrageous Fortune: Fifteen Central Park West, the World's Most Powerful Address, a worker at the building tells Gross, "He got hookers all the time. Usually two at a time, two times a week. One time he had two go up, they came down and left, and 10 minutes later, Cameron Diaz walks in."

A representative for the sports star, who dated Diaz from 2010 to 2011, has spoken out to slam the allegations, insisting the claims have been created to tarnish Rodriguez's name.

Spokesman Ron Berkowitz tells New York Post gossip column Page Six, "This is a further effort to fabricate scandal around Alex. The allegations concerning prostitutes are categorically false."

The star's reputation took a severe blow in August (13) when baseball league officials suspended him for a record 211 games in connection to a performance-enhancing drug scandal.

He has since launched legal action against Major League Baseball executives, accusing them of trying to force him out of the game.
