Actress Molly Glynn has died after a tree fell on her while biking in Illinois.

The Chicago Fire regular was cycling with her husband, Joe Foust, in the Erickson Woods Forest Preserve in suburban Chicago on Friday (05Sep14), when they got caught in a violent thunderstorm that toppled the tree.

She was taken to Evanston Hospital in Chicago, where she died from her injuries on Saturday (06Sep14).

Foust took to his Facebook.com page to share the sad news with his friends, writing, "I couldn't save her. I couldn't save her. She's gone. Things will never be the same."

Glynn, 46, was a veteran Chicago-based actress, who also featured on such Tv series as Boss and Early Edition.

She was a regular on the city's theatre circuit, having performed for notable companies including the Steppenwolf Theatre Company.

On Friday (05Sep14), a crowdfunding campaign was launched on GiveForward.com by Glynn's friends to raise money for Glynn's widower and her two teenage sons from a previous marriage.

As of Sunday (07Sep14), the campaign had raised $110,468 (£68,282) of its $125,000 (£77,258) goal.
