Abc To Cut 175 Jobs Beginning Today
Facing continued pressure from what it called technological advances, ABC plans to eliminate an additional 175 jobs and shut down its 10-year-old Toontown Online videogame website, the New York Post reported today (Thursday). The pink slips will begin arriving today, with all jobs expected to be completed within a week, an ABC spokesperson indicated in an interview with the newspaper. The layoffs are occurring just as the network is introducing new technology, including a Watch ABC app for smartphones and tablets. In an email to the Post, ABC said, As technological advances continue to alter the competitive landscape and viewer habits, it's incumbent upon us to stay ahead of the curve.
