**File Photo** * RENFRO DEAD AT 25 Troubled movie star BRAD RENFRO has died, according to U.S. reports. The 25-year-old actor was found dead at his home in Los Angeles on Tuesday morning, according to TMZ.com. The cause of death has not been determined, however, Renfro has had a history of drug abuse. The Client star had been working to stay clean and sober after a string of drug offences, including attempted heroin possession. The actor was accused of violating his probation after failing to enrol in a drug treatment program, following his conviction for attempted possession of heroin last summer (07). A Los Angeles Superior Court Judge and LA Deputy District Attorney warned Renfro that if he failed to enrol in a 18-month to three-year outpatient program he would be jailed. This was the second time Renfro had violated his probation. Renfro pleaded guilty to the charge of attempted possession in February 2006 after he was caught in a police sting in December 2005. At one point, Renfro was considered among the hottest stars in Hollywood; he was named The Hollywood Reporter's Young Star and one of top U.S. publication People magazine's Top 30 Under 30 in the mid 1990s. Ironically, he was inspired to become an actor after starring in a school production sponsored by drug organisation DARE, aimed at teaching kids about the dangers of drugs, according to imdb.com. He first found himself in trouble with the law for his drug problems in 1998 when he was arrested in his native Tennessee, when police pulled him over and allegedly found cocaine and marijuana in his pants and socks. Despite his troubled personal life, Renfro starred in a number of cult films; as well as The Client, he also appeared in Ghost World, Apt Pupil and The Jacket. He was reportedly still filming an adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' The Informers with Winona Ryder when he died. * STARS UNDER THREAT FROM MALIBU FIRES Hollywood stars including BRITNEY SPEARS, COURTNEY LOVE and STING have been placed on evacuation alert after raging wildfires broke out in Malibu, California on Saturday (24Nov07). More than 10,000 residents are under threat and have been evacuated for the second time in less than a month due to the blazing infernos, blamed on Santa Ana winds. Around 1,700 firefighters battled the blaze - known as the Corral fire - at its peak. Over 50 luxury houses are reported to have been destroyed, with over 4,650 acres of land burned. Red Hot Chili Peppers' bassist Flea is said to have lost his million-dollar mansion, while Minnie Driver and Matthew McConaughey have been evacuated from their houses, although the winds, which have fuelled the fires, have subsided. California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger declared a state of emergency last month (Oct07) after fires ravaged hundreds of homes and businesses, claiming more than 24,000 acres. (PAW/WNSMI/JC)

* SPEARS & FEDERLINE MUST ATTEND COUNSELLING TOGETHER LATEST: A judge has ordered BRITNEY SPEARS to complete three joint counselling sessions with her ex-husband KEVIN FEDERLINE before their next child custody hearing on 26 October (07). Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon also ruled that Spears must abide to strict drug testing regulations or her monitored visitation privileges with her two children will be taken away. Spears lost physical custody of her sons after reportedly ignoring a string of court-imposed demands and skipping mandatory drug tests. The further details of Wednesday's (03Oct07) temporary ruling - at which Federline was told he'll retain custody of Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one - were revealed in court documents released on Thursday (04Oct07). Gordon said that "a missed (drug) test, refusal to submit to a test, or failure to respond to the testing agency's call... shall be deemed by the court as a failed test." At the closed hearing, the judge added that a court-imposed monitor "shall terminate visitation immediately if any conduct or action by (Spears) endangers the minor children." Spears must also attend three individual counselling meetings before the 26 October (07) hearing. * SPEARS CHARGED WITH HIT & RUN BRITNEY SPEARS is in yet more legal trouble - the Los Angeles City Attorney has filed hit and run charges against her. The troubled pop superstar has ended a week in which her lawyer and manager both quit her employ as she fought her ex-husband for child custody with a new legal headache. It dates back to a parking lot incident on 6 August (07), which was caught on camera by paparazzi photographers. Careless Spears accidentally collided with Kim Robard-Rifkin's vehicle as she tried to park her Mercedes Benz in Van Nuys, California. After inspecting the damage on her own car, Spears failed to contact Robard-Rifkin in accordance with California law. And that's not the only driving charge the City Attorney dropped on the pop star on Friday (21Sep07) - she also faces a misdemeanour count of driving without a valid California license. Each charge carries a maximum of six months in jail. Britney's arraignment hearing is set for October 10 (07) in Van Nuys Superior Court. And the latest controversy seems to have turned Spears into a wreck - she was spotted sobbing while shopping in Los Angeles as the news of her driving crimes broke. Earlier this week (beg17Sep07), a Los Angeles judge ruled the pop star would be subjected to random drug and alcohol testing twice a week as part of her ongoing child custody battle with ex Kevin Federline. The pair must also attend parental councilling sessions.
