Steven Tyler returned to the stage on Wednesday evening (26th October 2011) following a nasty fall that saw him hospitalized with cuts, bruises and two missing teeth. The Aerosmith singer suffered a fall in the shower of his Paraguayan hotel room, forcing him to cancel the group's scheduled date in Asuncion on Tuesday.
The 63-year-old claims he was battling food poisoning and suddenly became nauseous in the shower. He told NBC's Today Show, "I started to get sick, and I just fell on my face.I just passed out" Luckily, the American Embassy was on hand to find the singer the best possible hospital in the area, Tyler said, "It was like one-stop shopping. They stitched up my eye. They did a little plastic surgery. And they fixed my tooth. All in one fell swoop". The rocker, who has a history of drug and alcohol problems, says he doesn't blame those who suggest the fall was the consequence of a relapse, but ultimately denied the claims. He said, "I get that people think that.It still bothers me a little, but it's something that I have to have to deal with for the rest of my life". Despite his visible cuts and bruises, Tyler and his band appeared in front of over 50,000 fans in Asuncion on Wednesday and the singer admits he was only too happy to play through the pain, saying, "Short of having my leg taken off, people are going to expect me to take the stage"
