Steven Tyler, the Aerosmith singer and current American Idol judge, is writing songs with the Hollywood actor Johnny Depp. Steven Tyler and Depp recently hit the studio to work on a new collaboration but there is currently no word on whether the pair plan to release an album.
Depp confirmed the news during an interview with the U.S. news show 'Extra', saying, "We've been hanging out here and there. He's someone I've admired greatly for such a long time. The idea of writing songs with him is a dream come true". The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star has been working on a number of musical projects in recent years, most notably recording with the British band Babybird and directing one of their videos. In the 1990's, he played slide guitar on the Oasis track 'Fade In-Out' and performed on Shane MacGowan's debut solo album. He was also a member of the rock band 'P', which also featured red hot chilli peppers bassist Flea. Tyler recently pinpointed the Hollywood star as being the ideal actor to play him in a film adaptation of his life, an idea that appeals to Depp, who said, "I would give it a shot, why not?"
Steven Tyler released his autobiography 'Does the Noise in My Head Bother You' last week. He is scheduled to perform the Aerosmith track 'It Feels So Good' on this week's American Idol.
