Rocker Steven Tyler is set to leave the judging panel on 'American Idol' to focus on his music career with band Aerosmith.
Although he was contracted to continue to judge for another series starting this autumn, Tyler has decided that he'd rather go back to what he loves the most. 'I've decided it's time for me to let go of my mistress 'American Idol' before she boils my rabbit', he said, according to Bbc News. 'I strayed from my first love, Aerosmith, and I'm back. I've got two fists in the air and I'm kicking the door open with my band.' The band is currently on tour in America and have a new album, 'Music from Another Dimension!', which is being released this year. Fox's Mark Darnell admits that he had anticipated his post would only be temporary. 'We always knew when we hired a rock 'n' roll legend, he would go back to music.' Fellow judge and superstar Jennifer Lopez expresses her sadness about Tyler's departure to Press Association, 'I love Steven, and we became close during that time. So it's hard to hear that he won't be doing it.'
J. Lo has revealed that she also may be thinking about leaving the show but admits on the 'Today' show that it would be a 'heart-breaking decision' to do so. She does, however, assure us that 'all hope is never lost'. Several names have been being bandied around in the media as possible replacements including former 'Idol' finalist Adam Lambert, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Lady GaGa and Sir Elton John. Mariah Carey has become the latest suggestion to take over the judging role.
