Film fans have named the tear-jerking finale of Steven Spielberg's alien adventure E.T. the most powerful moment in movie history.
The farewell scene in E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, which made a star of Drew Barrymore, scored 30 per cent of the votes in a poll by education charity Filmclub to find the most moving big screen clip.
The runner-up was a scene from Toy Story 3, in which the toys hold hands as they prepare to fall into a pit of fire, while Sylvester Stallone's final fight in Rocky was in third place.
Classic Disney movie Bambi came fourth for the scene in which the beloved fawn's mother dies, while the showdown in Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid was fifth.
