Fact: Actor Charlie Hunnam is reportedly in talks to step into movie legend Steve McQueen's shoes for a remake of Papillon. The Sons of Anarchy star is being courted to play a man unjustly convicted of murder planning his escape from an island prison. MCQueen played the role alongside Dustin Hoffman in director Franklin J. Schaffner's acclaimed 1973 film. Danish filmmaker Michael Noer is attached to direct the remake, according to Deadline.com. The film is slated to begin shooting in autumn (16).

Fact: Steve McQueen's 12 Years A Slave made Oscars history on Sunday night (02Mar14) when it became the first film by a black director to win the Best Picture honour in 86 years.

Fact: Steve McQueen continued his winning streak as his harrowing slavery drama 12 Years A Slave made history at the 14th Annual Black Reel Awards on 13 February (14). The film nabbed eight prizes, including Outstanding Motion Picture, Outstanding Actor (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Outstanding Supporting Actress (Lupita Nyong'o), and MCQueen claimed the Outstanding Director prize. The film's impressive haul was one trophy more than the previous record-holder, Precious, which won seven awards in 2010.
