Steve Carell is unsure if he is funny and wouldn't encourage anyone to invite him to a dinner party expecting him to be humorous.
Steve Carell doesn't think he is funny.
The 48-year-old actor - who is famed for his comedic roles in movies such as 'Evan Almighty' and 'Dinner for Schmucks' - believe he and his 'Date Nigh' co-star Tina Fey would be bad dinner guests because they are not as funny as many people hope.
He said: "Do not invite the two of us - we will suck all the energy out of the room.
"We both fight against that. When I do an appearance on a talk show I really have to push out of myself because it isn't just a conversation.
"It has to be of heightened entertainment value so you have to be wittier and more charming than you really are."
He also admits 'Date Night' director Shawn Levy encouraged the pair to be "inclusive" with the film and improvise in parts too.
He said: "This movie was very different because they were very inclusive with the writing and the improvisation as we shot and even when we saw the movie, Shawn wanted us to weigh in on what we liked and that's not normally the case."
'Date Night' is available on DVD and Blu-ray from today (13.09.10).
