Race Trailer

Race follows the life of athlete Jesse Owens and more specifically his athletic career as he embarked on his journey to the 1936 Olympics. Jesse was fast on the track, he constantly beat his competition and when he began training with Ohio State University coach Larry Snyder, he was pinned to be the best of the best. One of the major problems that faced him was that the 1932 games were set to take place in Germany which was ruled by the Nazis.

Being a black athlete, Jesse often faced discrimination and when he finally gained a place on the Olympic field team, Jesse was put under pressure by some of the community to send a message to the Nazi regime and equally a message of support to show solidarity with the oppressed people of Germany.

Jesse had to find a way to fulfil his dream and represent himself, what he stands for and to also win a medal for the people of USA who are counting on him to 'beat those Nazis' who viewed African Americans as inferior beings.

Lost In Space Review

Bad
Would that I had listened to my gut instead of Lost in Space's flashy trailer, one of the best promos for a bad movie (see also: Alien: Resurrection, Cliffhanger) to come along in some time.

Where to start with my complaints about this movie? Is it Akiva Goldsman's ridiculous script that attempts to jam as many fall-down-howlingly-bad lines into two hours as possible? Actors who obviously realize its qualities and spend the time mumbling them beneath their breath? A ridiculous little creature called Blorp (or Gleep, or whatever) that's sole purpose seems to be to sell toys? The time travel plot that takes over half-way through the film and makes you long for the oh-so-logical days of The Terminator and Back to the Future? Hell, The Jetsons paints a more realistic view of the future...

Under Suspicion Review

Good
It's an interesting box drama, and given its huge stars -- Morgan Freeman and Gene Hackman -- it's amazing this is a "First on Max" thriller. Hackman plays a tax attorney in Puerto Rico who discovers a strangled girl's body on his morning run. He is brought in to answer "just a few questions," but soon it becomes clear he is the prime suspect. Or is he being framed? Is his gorgeous wife (Monica Belucci) involved? Maybe the cops?

The use of flashbacks is interesting and unique -- replaying scenes over and over with a different spin. And the film truly keeps you guessing, though it goes out of the way to make Hackman look guilty. But what's up with the nonsense ending?
