Fans of Boardwalk Empire have been eagerly awaiting the return of the Prohibition-era set drama for some time now and as of Sunday September 16, their wishes will have at last come true. Hbo have already aired two new clips from the show and a somewhat obscure promo has been doing the rounds online too, but other than the brief glimpses we have been given the show's producers have been extremely tight-lipped about anything else the show will offer.

The first clip shows mobster Al Capone (Stephen Graham) entering a flower shop with one of his cronies to confront the store-owner, who is presumably running the shop as cover for some illicit operation. Before things can turn ugly, Nelson Van Alden (Michael Shannon) enters the store and plays along with the supposed florist, hinting at the fact that his suitcase contains a gun.

The second clip introduces us to Gyp Rosetti (Bobby Cannavale) who has in the past been alluded to as the next potential nemesis to Nucky (Steve Buscemi). Out of context, the two clips do not offer a great deal of insight into what the next series will have to offer, but one thing is for sure, that liquor will be getting bootlegged, bullets will fly and lives will no doubt be lost. The third season of Boardwalk Empire begins Sunday, September 16, at 9:00 p.m. on HBO.
