Actor Stephen Fry is supporting British Prime Minister Tony Blair's stance on the war with Iraq - unlike most of his UK contemporaries.

The GOSFORD PARK star is refusing to be drawn into the peace protests of actors like SIR Ian McKellen and DAME Judi Dench, who performed at Sunday's (23MAR03) LONDON CONCERT FOR PEACE.

He says, "I have to say one has to admire Blair for his sheer strength of conviction. For a leader who has always been criticised for not doing anything without looking at the polls, he has shown he is not afraid to go against public opinion.

"He's taking an enormous risk, the biggest gamble I can remember by a Prime Minister in my lifetime. You have to give him credit for that."
