Talk show host Stephen Colbert is looking to make his mark on the festival circuit as he launches 'StePhest Colbchella '012: Rocktaugustfest', set to be held on board the USS Intrepid, at New York City's Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum on August 10th.
Despite only being announced today, the one-day festival already boasts an impressive line-up including The Flaming Lips, fun., Grandmaster Flash, Grizzly Bear and Santigold.
Colbert will continue to promote the event and the artists performing even after the show, as he will feature a performance and interview with each of the performers at the event on The Colbert Report throughout the week of August 13th, similar to what he did last year.
Speaking about the event on his show, Colbert is clearly excited for the even and can't wait for the free event to take place. Practically yelling down the camera, he told audiences"we are gonna rock the boat, which won't be easy because the Intrepid displaces 41,434 tons," before adding a humorously scathing comment on his competition by saying "does Bonnaroo have cruise missiles? I think not."
Last year the funny-man hosted a week of Colbert Report guests including Florence and the Machine, Bon Iver, Talib Kweli and Jack White, coinciding with his 'StePhest Colbchella '011: Rock You Like a Thirst-Icane.'
