Stephen Baldwin paid $100,000 to the State Tax Department but still owes $243,068, nearly there!
Stephen Baldwin was left with empty pockets on Friday (Oct 18th).
The 47 year-old handed over a certified check for $100,000 to the state tax department in order to reduce the amount of unpaid taxes he owes New York.
The payment was exchanged at Rockland County Court and it was the second instalment for taxes he didn't pay in a three year period totalling at $400,000, from 2008, 2009 and 2010.

'Die Hard' star Bruce Willis, 'The Usual Suspects' actor Stephen Baldwin and Will Smith's former musical collaborator DJ Jazzy Jeff made their appearances on the red carpet at the Ziegfeld Theatre for the New York premiere of 'After Earth'.
Actor Baldwin's found himself in hot water over non-payment of taxes
Stephen Baldwin has joined the ever-growing list of Hollywood celebrities displaying a complete ineptitude when it comes to the management of their finances… specifically the compulsory payment of those pesky taxes. It looks as though Stephen Baldwin – arguably the second most famous of all the Baldwins – will be narrowly avoiding a stint in jail, thanks in no small part to his lawyer.
Baldwin owes a staggering $350,000 in back taxes, dating from 2008, 2009 and 2010. The Usual Suspects actor either needs a new accountant or a new calculator – we’re not sure which, at this juncture. The State of New York have thankfully agreed to give Baldwin five years to pay back the money and as long as he does that and makes his payments on time, it looks as though he should be able to avoid serving time behind bars. His lawyer, Russell Yankwitt, told TMZ “Mr. Baldwin is very appreciative he will not be incarcerated. He will pay back what he owes, and is looking forward to putting all of this behind him."

Yesterday it was unveiled that actor Stephen Baldwin owes $350,000 in unpaid income taxes and penalties from 2008-2010 and was arrested for the debt. Today his brother, fellow actor Alec Baldwin has spoken in his defence.
"I don't think he's going to go to jail, I know that he's in a negotiated settlement... This was all prearranged with the D.A. for him to go in and make an appearance." He said, CNN reported, adding scathing comments about the papparazzi who plague all the Baldwin brothers, "My attitude is that the business would be infinitely better if all of them were gone... If I could press a button tomorrow and flush them all down some swirling sewer vortex I would do it."
Likewise, the man who's paid to speak in Stephen's defence, his lawyer, said "Mr. Baldwin did not commit any crimes, and he's working with the district attorney's office and the New York State Tax Department to resolve any differences."

Alec Baldwin has dismissed suggestions that his younger brother Stephen might go to jail following his arrest for tax evasion.
The actor was taken into custody when he neglected to pay a tax bill of $350,000. Brother Alec discussed the situation when he appeared on 'Piers Morgan Tonight' saying that he doesn't think Stephen is going to jail for his offence. 'I know that he's in a negotiated settlement and things that were online... That's what the media today does', he said. 'They try to tilt it the way that they need it to be to sell copies and what have you, and sell online hits to their sites.' He also noted that people with lots of money and people with very little money have the same problem when it comes to tax. 'When you have far less money than you need and you have far more money than you need, they're both equal in terms of how easy it is to get into trouble with the taxman', he claimed. 'Only the people who really walk down the middle in a more realistic framework financially seem to keep that right.'
He went on to note that he knows many people who get into accidental debt due to not paying tax because they have overestimated their future income. 'My brother in that sense is no different to probably millions of people', he insisted.
Stephen Baldwin, the Hollywood actor still best known for The Usual Suspects, has pleaded not guilty to failure to file personal income tax returns. Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe said Mr Baldwin, 46, owes more than $350,000 in tax and penalties, according to BBC News.
Prosecutors say the actor may face up to four years in prison if convicted. "We cannot afford to allow wealthy residents to break the law by cheating on their taxes. The defendant's repetitive failure to file returns and pay taxes over a period of several years contributes to the sweeping cutbacks and closures in local government and in our schools," said Zugibe. Mr Baldwin is accused of failing to pay state personal income taxes from 2008 to 2010, though the actor argues that he had poor financial representation at the time in question. His lawyer, Russell Yankwit, insisted the actor "did not commit any crimes", adding that he was "working with the district attorney's office and the New York State Tax Department to resolve any differences." Stephen is the youngest brother of the Baldwin acting dynasty, which includes William, Daniel and Alec, the most successful. He filed for bankruptcy in 2009 with legal papers suggesting he owed $1.2 million on two mortgages, $1 million in taxes and $70,000 on credit cards.
Baldwin is probably sweating a little, given fellow Hollywood star Wesley Snipes was imprisoned for tax evasion in 2010. The Blade Runner star is due for release from a Pennsylvanian prison in July 2013.

Stephen Baldwin, The Usual Suspects star and contestant on 'Celebrity Big Brother 2010', has been very vocal about his evangelical Christian views, however his arrest for failure to pay his taxes, as reported by E!, leads us to question just how well he follows the word of the Lord. Of course, there's nowhere in the Bible that says 'You really must pay your income tax every year', but in the general moral fibres of the text, it's certainly implied.
If Baldwin had any doubts as to whether his tax would actually do any good, DA Tomas P. Zugibe has the answer: Yes, it would. "The defendant's repetitive failure to file returns and pay taxes over a period of several years contributes to the sweeping cutbacks and closures in local government and in our schools. My Office will continue to investigate and prosecute those who cheat our tax system for their personal gain." He said, "At a time when Rockland County and New York State face severe fiscal shortfalls, we cannot afford to allow wealthy residents to break the law by cheating on their taxes."
According to the Rockland County District Attorney's Office, NY Baldwin failed to pay his personal income tax from 2008-2010, which is leaving him with a bill of $350,000... although that includes penalties and interest. Although it's a hefty bill, the alternative that he's now facing is a jail term of up to four years. He's due to return to court on February 5th 2013.
