The original version of horror prequel EXORCIST: THE BEGINNING is to have its world premiere - even though producers dropped the movie for lacking the scare factor.

The psychological drama, which stars Stellan Skarsgard and was directed by AMERICAN GIGOLO film-maker Paul Schrader, will be screened on 18 March (05) at the INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF FANTASTIC FILM (11-26MAR05) in Brussels, Belgium.

Film studio MORGAN CREEK was so dissatisfied with Schrader's version, they ordered the $32 million (GBP17 million) film to be reshot with CLIFFHANGER director Renny Harlin. They also replaced most of the cast on the movie, but not Swedish star Skarsgard.

While Harlin's interpretation of the movie was critically mauled on its release last October (04). The film went on to gross $76 million (GBP41 million) worldwide.
