Designer Stella Mccartney has designed a fake alternative to the bearskin hats worn by Queen Elizabeth II's Royal Guards. The designs have been made in conjunction with animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). A PETA spokesperson reveals, "They kill one black bear in Canada for each of her (The Queen's) Guards' hats, and Stella MCCartney has designed an amazing fake." But Britain's Ministry of Defence claims to have no involvement in the venture. A spokesperson says, "We've been looking at a synthetic hat for a while, but I've not heard of Stella being involved." Singer Pink recently wrote a letter to The Queen, on behalf of PETA, asking her to stop the use of bearskin hats.
