Retired tennis ace Andre Agassi left his wife Steffi Graf needing stitches after accidentally hitting her with his racket during a charity match on Sunday (15Apr07).
The couple, who wed in 2001, were playing at the US Clay Court Championships finals in Houston, Texas, when the accident occurred.
Graf's lip was cut when Agassi's racket hit her face as they played a game while holding hands.
Agassi says, "She's OK. It was an unfortunate accident."
Newly-retired tennis ace Andre Agassi and his wife Steffi Graf are developing a new luxury hotel and spa in Idaho.
The sporting couple has finalised a deal to develop a new project to be managed by the Fairmont hotel group, according to USA Today newspaper.
The Tamarack Resort, which overlooks Lake Cascade to the north of Boise, already features a ski area and a championship golf course.
Tennis champion Andre Agassi said goodbye to tennis at the US Open on Sunday (03SEP06), after his 21st consecutive tournament resulted in a loss to German BENJAMIN BECKER.
Agassi had said he would retire after the tournament and collapsed into his courtside chair, tearfully looking up through his fingers to see 20,000 people standing and cheering for him in a tribute that lasted a solid four minutes.
Agassi's wife, Steffi Graf, herself a tennis champion, and their two children, JADEN, four, and JAZ, two, were also looking on at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City.
Despite pain from sciatica cause by a degenerative back condition, Agassi walked to centre court to blow and wave to his fans.
The 36-year-old told the crowd, "The scoreboard said I lost today, but what the scoreboard doesn't say is what I have found. Over the last 21 years, I have found loyalty.
"You have pulled for me on the court and also in life. I have found my inspiration. You have willed me to succeed, sometimes even in my lowest moments, and I've found generosity.
"You have given me your shoulders to stand on to reach my dreams, dreams I could never have reached without you."
SIMPLY RED star Mick Hucknall has rubbished his reputation as a promiscuous ladies' man, despite having dated a succession of famous beauties. The 46-year-old is currently in a longterm relationship, but famously romanced Catherine Zeta-Jones, supermodel Helena Christensen and tennis star Steffi Graf in the past. But Hucknall is quick to dismiss the perception he has difficulty committing to one woman. He says, "I'm not like that at all. I never have been - that's not what it's about with me. "Mostly I stay on good terms with people I have been involved with, but I don't think anyone has a 100 per cent record on relationships. I think fidelity is a challenge to everybody. "I'm no different to anybody else."
The couple plans to open the new residence in Tamarack in 2008.
Graf admits she's thrilled to concentrate on her hotel plans now her tennis career is over: "We couldn't have picked a better spot."
The happily-married twosome already have a son - JADEN GIL - whose sex they discovered shortly after Steffi fell pregnant but they decided to wait a bit longer to know more about baby number two.
Agassi says, "We don't know whether it's a boy or a girl yet but I think we'll soon be finding out. We asked for a scan with the first one because we wanted to bond with him.
