A producer behind hit 1989 movie Steel Magnolias has launched legal action over a new Tv adaptation of the drama, insisting she is owed a fee and a credit.
Victoria L. White, who acted as executive producer on the original hit starring Julia Roberts, Sally Field and Dolly Parton, filed a suit in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday (01Oct12) over the upcoming Lifetime Tv movie, which stars Queen Latifah.
White alleges she is owed a producer credit and a fee of $5,000 (£3,125) per episode plus a $10,000 (£6,250) bonus, as well as a share of net profits of any new reboot due to an agreement stemming from the 1992 Tv remake of the original film.
She is suing for compensation and wants the judge to ban the release of the movie unless she gets a screen credit, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
