Former Star Trek captain Patrick Stewart is selling his home in California's Pacific Palisades in order to spend more time in his native England.

The thespian, who will be named Chancellor of HUDDERSFIELD UNIVERSITY in Yorkshire, England, later this year (04), bought his California retreat in 1997 and extensively renovated it.

The five-bedroom home, which was originally built in the 1950s, is on the market for $6.4 million (GBP3.55 million).

Stewart isn't the only English actor to set up home in the Palisades - SIR Anthony Hopkins and Pierce Brosnan also own homes there.
