Over 1,000 pieces of memorabilia from Star Trek will be auctioned off to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the franchise. Christie's auction house will be selling items including costumes, props, sets, weapons and models. Christie's director of special collections CATHY ELKIES says, "These are real cultural artifacts." Among the items expected to bring in top dollar are a replica of Captain JAMES T KIRK's original chair, a miniature version of the starship Enterprise and a Romulan Warbird ship. The auction will take place in New York City between 5 and 7 October (06). This is the first time CBS Paramount Television has offered up Star Trek items from their archives.
