Star Trek actor Simon Pegg has adopted a healthy new lifestyle and cut out alcohol in a bid to stay trim.
The British star decided to give up boozing after shooting the latest Mission: Impossible movie with Tom Cruise in 2010 and admits he has been teetotal ever since.
He tells Britain's The Sun, "I find it easier to keep fit if I don't drink. I have given up for two years and I don't miss it in the slightest.
"I was starting to do Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, which required more of a physical contribution and drink is so many empty calories."
Pegg, whose daughter Matilda turns three in July (12), insists he is a better father now that he is no longer a big drinker.
He adds, "I also want to be able to wake up fresh in the morning and play with my kid. You can't be a present parent and drink, unless you take it in turns to lie in until 11 every morning."
Health-conscious Pegg has even stepped up his exercise regimen to compete with his Hollywood co-stars: "Because the rest of the crew on Star Trek are very young, I've been working out with a trainer."
