As the clock counts down to midnight in Times Square tonight, Spiderman will be there to welcome into the new year too
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will web-sling it's way on to cinema screens on 2 May (18 April in the UK) in 2014 and as the release date of the much-anticipated sequel to the reboot of the comic book spin off draws nearer, Sony have thought of a novel way to combine New Years Eve with a promotional push for the movie.
The AS-M2-oriented website ElectroArrives.com was been counting down the minutes to midnight in anticipation for something big for a while now. That something big became a little clearer today when director Marc Webb and Spidey himself appeared on Good Morning America to promote the film and explain the role Spiderman will be playing in New York City's new years celebrations. Not only will Spidey have a part to play in the ball drop counting down to midnight, but the evening will also see the airing of some new scenes from the movie for the first time.
With the Spider-Man story shot in and around New York City, the metropolis plays a huge part in the film and rather inevitably one of the city's most well-known landmarks - Time's Square - appears in the film prominently. Some scenes set in Time Square will air for the first time on New Years Eve, blaring out on the many jumbo-screens scattered around the city district. When appearing on GMA, Webber and Spidey promised big things for the night's entertainment, but hopefully Spider-Man will be more on the ball than he was at the 3 min 50 secs mark in the below video.
If you don't plan on going to Time's Square to watch the New Years Eve celebrations this evening , then you can tune in to ABC tonight to see all the action unfold on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. Alternatively, you could watch the trailer for the new film and hol on until it is released in cinemas to see it in full.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 arrives in cinemas in the USA on 2 May and on 18 April in the UK.
