Spice Girls star Mel B missed out on the Dancing With The Stars crown on U.S. TV on Tuesday night (27Nov07) after racing driver HELIO CASTRONEVES drove off with the big win.
The Wannabe singer, who kickstarts the Spice Girls reunion tour in Canada on Sunday (02Dec07), beat veteran entertainer Marie Osmond to come in second after votes from judges and viewers were counted.
Mel B and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy scored the highest marks throughout the series, but they came up short when it counted, leaving the Brit a little upset.
She said, "I had a great time and I can't believe we came so far. We almost won it, but we didn't - and that hurts."
The two-hour results show was packed with tension and drama and is expected to be among the highest-rated reality finales ever when viewing figures are released later this week (ends30Nov07).
Osmond, who lost her father and revealed her teenage son had checked into rehab while competing on the show, fought back tears as she was handed third place at the beginning of the results show.
And one returning professional, ousted Cheetah Girls star Sabrina Bryan's partner on the dancefloor and in real life Mark Ballas, was rushed to hospital in an ambulance following his finale performance after badly injuring his shoulder. It is believed he tore a muscle during his return performance with Bryan.
Meanwhile, the stars are already lining up to take part in the next Dancing With The Stars series - former The Brady Bunch actress Florence Henderson has signed on to take part.
