Former Spice Girls star Emma Bunton is backing a new charity campaign to stamp out child malnutrition across the globe.

The Wannabe hitmaker has partnered with Unicef Uk to raise awareness of the organisation's latest drive which aims to provide youngsters with the right nutrients during their first 1,000 days of life.

In the run up to Mother's Day in the U.K. (10Mar13), Bunton, who has two young sons, has voiced her support for the cause and stressed the importance of babies' early days.

She says, "It's so shocking that one in four children around the world are not getting the right nutrients they need to grow up healthy and strong in their first 1,000 days of life.

"When my boys were toddlers I'd sit here (at home) and sing (song) You are my sunshine to them while the light streamed in on us. When they reached the stage where they could start singing along it really was a magical moment and one I'll always remember in those first important 1,000 days.

"Every mother should be able to enjoy these precious moments in their child's life and development."

Bunton is mother to two boys, Beau, five, and Tate, 22 months, with her partner Jade Jones.
