South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are planning a movie version of their hit Broadway musical comedy The Book of Mormon , but have indicated that it may take several years before it hits the screen. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Parker said "Hopefully it will have a big run [on Broadway] and a big [national] tour, and then we can do the movie in several years." The pair, who teamed up with The Social Network producer Scott Rudin on their 1999 and 2004 movies (the animated South Park Bigger Longer and Uncut and the puppet parody Team America World Police ), told EW that they hope to bring Rudin in to produce the Mormon movie. Said Stone "The great thing is, a lot of Broadway teams would have to go team up with a Hollywood producer and bring on a Hollywood director, but Trey's a director and Scott's a great producer. We've all made movies. So it's kind of cool, it can stay in the same family." Last June, The Book of Mormon won nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
