Soulja Boy
This is the latest arrest for the still-young Soulja Boy

Soulja Boy was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday, 22 January, following a traffic stop by police, who found him in possession of a loaded gun during their routine vehicle check. The rapper was arrested after a car he was riding in was pulled by a Los Angeles County Police officer after running a stop sign in San Fernando Valley.

The 23-year-old was sat in the passenger seat of the car that was pulled over by police, TMZ first reported, and during the stop the cops noticed that the rapper was in possession of a firearm. When they checked, it turned out that the pistol was loaded, and Soulja Boy was arrested in accordance with California state law.

He was then taken to a nearby jail and booked on a felony charge, with bail set at $35,000. No details on who was driving the car or what car was being driven have emerged, with both LAPD and Soulja Boy keeping quiet on the whole thing since the incident was first reported.

Despite enjoying limited mainstream release, Soulja Boy has developed a large cult following through his mixtapes and live shows

This is the latest in a long line of criminal offences by Soulja Boy, who found fame in 2007 as a 16-year-old with 'Crank That (Soulja Boy).' After being sued in 2007 by William Lyons - a.k.a. Souljah Boy of Mo Thugs Family - for supposedly stealing his name, Soulja Boy found himself in trouble with the law again in 2009 when he was arrested for obstruction and for running from police after filming a music video in an abandoned house in Atlanta, Georgia. He was arrested again in 2011 for marijuana and weapons possession. More word on his current arrest as it develops.
